I need some Christmas in my life!

I have a confession...
I really dislike the fall/winter season. I can't stand the cold, winter clothes, or fall colors.

So yesterday I started making my folder of Christmas decorations to make!

I really hope to make our own stockings this year.

Happy holidays!

Hoo Are You?

NightOwlCrafting

1.What was your favorite meal growing up?
It doesn't have a name, but it's chicken wrapped in bacon on dried beef with this white cream sauce.  My mother actually made it for all the meat-eaters at my first birthday as a vegetarian.  How mean was that? It was such a temptation!
2. What's your favorite month?
August [birthday]!
3. What store is most represented in your wardrobe?
Target
4. How many times do you go to the movie theater each month/year?
1-3 times a year
5. Fill in the blank- I've never been able to ___________________
Stay caught up on laundry!

I haven't disappeared!

Please don't give up on me! I haven't posted in a few days due to a conference the graduate students have to organize.  Now that it's over, I have to start studying for my Neuro/Motor Speech Disorders midterm on Thursday.

Sorry everyone!

Bathroom storage

...okay no, this isn't hung in my bathroom, but I'm trying to refrain from putting more holes in my walls since I'm going to start packing next month.

I found this sign from Dollar Tree. I painted it black then covered it with gray fabric.

I just Gorilla Glued 3 mason jars on it and done!

I know one will have Q-tips, one with cotton balls, but the third...no clue. Suggestions?

I know it will look so cute when it's hung up, but that will have to wait until February :(

Suitcase makeover

I love the look of painted suitcases.  I've had this one for awhile that I picked up for $2 at the SA.  I found a great friend for it at Goodwill and then some guy came up to me telling me it was his (when I watched him abandon it) after he saw me open it.  He told me didn't think it opened and now he wants it.  I was so shocked I didn't react, and just let him have it. :(

Anyways...here's before

...and after

I like it! It matches my throw pillows perfectly (more perfectly than the paint I had Home Depot "color match").

I must need a vacation...

With the vacation rock yesterday and a vacation jar today, I must feel like I need to go somewhere!

I can't remember where I saw this idea first! I'll keep looking.

The idea is pretty simple, just put items from a vacation in a jar. Voila!

Inside is my keepsake garter, bubbles from the wedding, a ribbon I had tied on all the centerpieces, our "thank you" tag from our favors, our train tickets to our honeymoon, zoo tickets from our honeymoon, and the receipt for our hotel.

I really enjoy getting a glimpse of all these items every day instead of them being boxed up.

I didn't think it warranted a tutorial, but I just covered the lid with fabric using modge podge and then made the tag using typewriter-style stamps.

I can't wait to have more! I probably don't need to come up with any more "collections" for awhile.

The start of a tradition...

We've all seen these vacation rocks...right?

Ever since I saw these almost a year ago I knew I was going to start my own collection once I got married.

So here it is! My husband and I searched far and wide to find a rock in New Orleans...and it only took me 2 months to take the 2 minutes to write "New Orleans August 2010" on it. :) I can't wait to have a huge collection...although they will suck to move from house to house haha.

Happy Sunday!

"Book"shelves...get it?

Just find some old books from a thrift store, screw in some L-brackets, and there ya go!

P.S. I learned to clamp the books shut while screwing in the L-brackets or the pages bunch like this.

Do you have swagger?

So I'm hooked on this Swagbucks.com thing.  It literally is free money. Yep. Free. You just sign up and you can early Swag Bucks which you can buy things from their swag store (including Amazon, Paypal, and Target giftcards). The one way I earn them is just by searing through their search engine.  Randomly while you search it will pop up "You just won 10 Swag Bucks" or something like that.  You also can earn when you buy stuff online from this long list of popular websites (like you get 2 Swag Bucks for every $1 you spend in iTunes).

Anyways...I recommend it!

I'd also love if you went through my referral link, but that's totally up to you :)

Just because I have said "swag" or "swagger" way more times than ever before in this post.  I have show my favorite commercial.

Help me trash my dress!

So 6 weeks and 1 day ago I married my best friend.  I knew way before I even bought my dress that I wanted to "trash" it after the wedding.  I haven't completely decided what I want to do, but it needs to happen soon before it's too cold! (Courtney, you might want to warn Mark...haha)

Anyways...here is my dress

I still can't believe I climbed up in this dirty barn...BEFORE the wedding!

Have to have a picture of the kiss!

Okay, I know those last 2 pictures weren't necessary, but I'm having wedding withdrawals.

This is what I want to do with my dress (well...something like these):

I really want to do the paint "war"...but I don't know where I could make such a mess

*I don't own any of the trash the dress photos*

Did any of you do this?  Any suggestions?
