"Spell"binding Craft

Well, with Halloween fast-approaching it only seemed right to have my first tutorial be Halloween-related.  I was very happy with the results and it only cost $2!

First, I got this old 1958 dictionary from the thrift store.  It's all tattered and perfect!

I wanted it to look like old fabric covering so it so I flattened out a paper bag.

Crumpled it up and spread it back out (sorry for the blurry picture).

Then I covered the book with some Elmer's glue.  I also covered the pages in aluminum foil so it wouldn't get spray paint on it.

Used my Cricut to cut out "SPELLS" on contact paper.

Can't forget the side!

Sprayed with trusty .98 black spray paint and peeled off the letters

Perfect! (well as perfect as my crafts get)

Thanks for stopping by and please check back soon!

And great idea covering the edges with foil...I wouldn't have thought to do that and would done something much harder and irritating to protect the edges. LOL
